Getting Started

I just read an article aimed at people with ADHD on how to avoid procrastination. I think the tips would work for anyone, whether or not they have ADHD.

The one I like the best is “Just do something.” If you have to write a paper, start out by writing or typing some words that pertain to the subject. If you have to clean an area, start by getting rid of what is definitely trash. If you have to do chores, gather your tools.

The trick is not to let the preparation take all your time. If you know that you can spend hours researching and analyzing options, don’t let that be your starting point.

Making a physical effort toward your goal will get you in the mental state to carry out the actions.
