Lead Paint and Kids

Mattel recently recalled toys due to lead-paint contamination ( Lead gets into children’s blood when they put toys with lead paint in their mouths. While the incidence of lead poisoning has decreased in the last 30 years due to the elimination of lead paint in houses and lead in gasoline, children are still vulnerable. Doctors recommend that children’s blood be tested for lead at regular pediatrician visits. If you notice that your child has been chewing on toys with lead paint or that paint is missing, you may wish to take your child for a blood test sooner. For more information, see
