Some days it’s hard to have a positive attitude. Maybe you’re not feeling well or you’re trying to fit too much work into one day, or things just don’t seem to be going your way. Everyone is entitled to an off day, but if you allow yourself to get dragged down by negativity, you are more likely to fall back on bad habits. Here are some ideas to help you snap out of it:
1. Reframe: When you look at a situation in a different way, often you can turn around your thinking.
2. Record: Write down things you are thankful for or things that make you happy.
3. Rant: Allow yourself a short time to feel bad, then move on. You can enlist a friend’s help to keep to the specified time or use a timer.
Encouraging yourself to see the positive side of things is not an assignment to become Pollyanna, who finds something to be glad about in every situation, but to make an investment in your mental and physical health.
