Driving Distracted

According to a study conducted by the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center, 97% of drivers take their eyes off the road to reach for something; 91% adjust music controls; 71% eat or drink, 46% do some type of grooming while driving. You may think you are driving safely because you only take your attention away for a moment, but as the number of distractions increases, driver safety decreases.

In addition, studies show that people who talk on cell phones while driving have slower reaction times. Now, people are texting on their cell phones while they drive, which prevents them from paying attention to their surroundings.

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that distracted driving accounts for nearly 80% of vehicle accidents in the US. Be safe and avoid multi-tasking while you drive. If you use your car as your office, pull over so you can talk, write or type safely.
