Embrace Your Inner Cheapskate

In these tough economic times, it’s important to think about how you spend your money. Jeff Yeager, “the ultimate cheapskate,” has written about going on a "fiscal fast," going for a period of time without buying anything (http://www.ultimatecheapskate.com). He suggests starting out with going for a week without spending money.

Jeff says that cheap is the new cool, in addition to having consequences for the environment. When you consume less stuff, less pollution is created from producing it and less trash is created from packing and transporting.

For the next week, question whether you really need to make the purchases you want to make. Can you cut something out and make do with what you already have? Try it and leave a comment. After all, as Jeff say, it's only a week out of your life.
