Pass it on!

In honor of Get Organized Month, consider getting rid of some things that you don’t use anymore. You can give them to someone who would enjoy them, you can donate them to charity or you can try to trade them for something you would rather have.

Swaptree.com lets you trade books, CDs, DVDs and video games. They also let you print out a shipping label so you can avoid going to the post office.

You can barter almost anything at barterthing.com and u-exchange.com. Barterthing also offers services, destinations and events for bartering, while u-exchange includes vehicles and home exhanges in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Finally, trashbank.com gives you the opportunity to buy, sell or trade almost anything.

Before you set up an account, find out what the Web site’s fees are and look at the feedback a prospective trader has earned. As always, you need to be aware of on-line scammers.

You could, conceivably, continue to trade forever (as long as the Web site still operates); reading a book or watching a movie and sending it on to someone else when you finish it.

Have you had experience with a barter Web site? Click on Post a Comment, below, and tell us.
