Doing It All
Some days you aren’t able to do what you need to because someone else is driving your agenda: your sick child, dissatisfied customers, insubordinate employees or visiting corporate executives. On those days, the best solution often is to reschedule what you can and use the short amounts of time you can salvage to get some priority work done.
Think about how you feel when you’ve had a tremendously productive day. A day like that makes you believe you can accomplish anything. Although you might be tired, you probably feel competent, satisfied, fulfilled.
Now think about a day when you were so busy you didn’t stop for lunch, yet you have no idea what you did all day. By 5:00 you’re left with the same list of things you started the day with. If this happens to you often, you may be over scheduling yourself or doing things you could be delegating. You might be doing things that don’t need to be done until a later date. Being energetic is good, but being frenzied is not.
Some people like to look busy because they think it makes them seem invaluable. If you’re not producing quality work, though, you’re just spinning around and someone is bound to notice eventually.
It’s important to find a balance between being idle and being stressed, with the outcome of achieving your goals. Being busy and being productive are not the same. What can you stop doing that will allow you to spend time on doing what you value? Click on Post a Comment, below, and tell us.
