5 Things you can let go of easily

It’s hard for most people to let go of things.
You might be holding on to something because you paid a lot for it, or because it reminds you of someone or because you used to really like it. The difficulty is in assessing why you still have it and whether you can be happy without it.

Here are five things you might be able to let go of without much distress:

1.  Anything that is broken and hasn’t been fixed. If you’ve been holding on to it, thinking you would take care of it “some day,” what will it take? How long have you been holding it? Will it be worth the time or money investment? Do you still like it?

2.  Anything that is stained or torn beyond repair. If you can’t wear it unless you’re sure no one will see you, it’s time to let it go.

3.  Anything that’s missing pieces so that it is no longer useful. Have a spot where you keep miscellaneous pieces of stuff that you don’t recognize. After a specific amount of time, when you are unable to locate the other pieces, recognize that you probably will never find them.

4.  Anything that no longer serves a purpose or makes you happy to see it. Everything you own should be useful or attractive. Bonus if it’s both. If it’s neither, it needs to go.

5.  Anything you’re keeping only because you might find a use for it some time and you’re sure you’ll realize that use the day after you give it away. Do I really need to explain this one?

Start out with this list and see how many things truly don’t fit in your life anymore. Then let them go.

  1. Great letting go advice. It's all in the questions, isn't it? Sometimes getting to the answer can be challenging, but it certainly begins with asking.
